Hello, my name is Cody Shah Theagali and I have just completed a period of prayer and discernment (called “postulancy”) with the Canon Regulars of St Thomas Aquinas in Ohio. During this time, I have shared daily life with the priests, brothers and seminarians there. This three-month postulancy has assured me that G-d is calling me to the priesthood in this religious community with its reverence for Church tradition. Being ordained to the priesthood for the Canon Regulars of St Thomas Aquinas and for the Holy Catholic Church will allow me to spread the treasure of the classical Roman liturgy to others.
The Canon Regulars are a Traditional Catholic religious order that celebrates Mass in the traditional, Latin Form (1962 Missal) and uses the 1960 Breviary as the basis for priests’ daily prayers. We are in communion with Rome.
I was in high school when I began to practice my faith seriously and started to discern G-d’s call for me. I then studied philosophy at the University of Toronto and thereafter obtained a paralegal certificate at Centennial College in Ontario. I still have about $CN30,000 in student debt from these studies, which must be paid off before I will be permitted to continue my studies at the seminary. I am looking for work now, which will allow me to pay off some of the loans myself, but I hope to be able to continue my seminary studies sooner rather than later. It is my greatest wish to serve and love our Lord in the vocation that He has prepared for me.
My parents immigrated here to Canada from Trinidad and have maintained the Catholic faith. They are very much in favor of my pursuing my calling, and at age 23, feel I have the maturity to recognize G-d’s call to His priesthood. Unfortunately, my parents cannot afford to pay off my $CN30,000 student debt. Although the seminary will cover tuition and expenses once I attend, I must be debt free to continue my studies at the seminary.
Therefore, I earnestly ask for your help with your donations and prayers. Anything helps.
Please pray for me as I will for thee. May G-d bless you.
